New FTC guidelines
The News Release can be found at:- http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2009/10/endortest.shtm
There are links to documents providing examples on the right side of this page.
I have not read it in full detail yet but as an affiliate then basically it seems this is what it is about:-
- You should not make income or results claims unless you have real evidence to prove this is what your consumer will generally achieve with your advertised product/service
- You have to disclose if you have received a free review copy if doing reviews
- You have to disclose when links are affiliate links and that that if they purchase you will receive an affiliate compensation.
"... will be interpreted as representing that the endorser’s experience is representative of what consumers will generally achieve with the advertised product in actual, albeit variable, conditions of use. Therefore, unless the advertiser possesses and relies upon adequate substantiation for this representation, the advertisement should either clearly and conspicuously disclose what the generally expected performance would be in the depicted circumstances or clearly and conspicuously disclose the limited applicability of the endorser’s experience to what consumers may generally expect to achieve."
As I said this is a legal position brought about by the US FTC and therefore I can not give any advice on this matter. If you have any questions then consult your solicitor, as any of the above comments I make are not to be considered legal advice.
Here are some more useful references where you can find out more on to this topic:-

'Here's How You Can Unleash The Power Of Wordpress, To Build Your Own Profitable Online Business
The real purpose of blogs is so that people can keep a record of what they are doing and their friends and familycan read about them. They were incredibly popular when they first started and now they are even more so.
In fact, they were so popular that Google bought one of the biggest blogging platforms called Blogger (which I use)as they were able to predict that this was the way that the internet was turning.
With the entrance of Google into the online blogging arena, blogging exploded and many thousands of blogs were startedevery day. While Blogger was becoming more and more popular, another blogging platform called Wordpress was also exploding. The difference between them was that with Wordpress you had more freedom to do whatever you wanted with it. What slowly happened was that lots of 'geeks' started to use it and develop it further until it turned into an extremely powerfulpiece of software.
This is great for you because it means that you will have a huge amount of power behind any online marketing that youdo which uses Wordpress.
One of the reasons that blogs are so powerful is because the search engines totally love them! Right from the startyou could create a blog in the morning, add a few articles in the afternoon and by the next visitors would be visitingyour site.
And it is still working just as well today!
Nowadays there are many different ways of building a website. If you do not know a website scripting language like HTML then you can still build an effective website using a platform like WordPress.
Because of the popularity of Wordpress, people have created add-ons or plug-ins for WordPress that have significantly enhanced its usability and flexibility. In addition, there are many (often free) templates (or themes as they areknown in the WordPress world) that enable you to make your site look almost any way you want it to as well.
WordPress is not perfect – no site building system ever is – but as a shortcut to creating an incredibly effectivewebsite quite quickly, it would be difficult to find anything that is more effective than WordPress.
Wordpress is very easy to navigate around and control, but there are several things that you can do wrong which couldmess up your whole experience.
Here are some of the things you need to know how to do and master to avoid things going wrong:-
- How you can literally click one button and have a great-looking fully-functional website in less than 10 seconds!
- How there are actually two versions of Wordpress and how each can outpower the other in certain situations!
- How choosing the wrong host will kill your blog even before you have created it!
- The importance of the order which you post information to your blog and how the obvious will often not be the correct choice!
- The easiest way to give Google (and the other search engines) exactly what they want!
- Why blogs can be an integral part of your link network even if you didn't know that you had one!
- The easiest ways to make your blog stand out to human visitors (this just takes a few minutes).
- What plugins are and why they are almost as important as your blog itself.
- How to put Adsense or other advertising on your blog so you can be 100% sure that it is optimized correctly.
- What settings you MUST change or else you will be penalized in a big way.
- The important things that you should have on your front page.
- The easiest way to have your visitors subscribing to your list.
Build Your Business with Wordpress is available this month and shows you exactly how to do these things so You can manipulate WordPress to create a superbly effective website quickly.
This way you can improve traffic and therefore improve sales for all your sites (not just your blogs). This is a great resource so check it out now here - http://www.biztoolz.com.au/marketingoninternet.html
Until next time all the best.

Market Successfully Through Twitter
Perhaps the word friends here might seem out of place, but these days, people all over the world are genuinely becoming friends via the net. There are many ways that this is happening, people using blogs, podcasts and chat utilities like Windows Messenger and Skype.
However, over the past year or so, one site that has been on the upand-up is Twitter - so much so that for many people, it is a site that they log onto every day. It is a site that allows people to communicate almost instantly, and because most people use the site in a public way, every time someone you have added to your friends list adds new information, you will instantly see it and so will all their other friends. It is therefore a site where you can have pretty open conversations with other members, a place where it is very easy to become involved, and also somewhere that it is very easy to learn.
On top of that, Twitter is a site that presents significant marketing opportunities, but only if the whole thing is approached in exactly the right way.
First and foremost a social networking tool. You are not going to use Twitter to market directly. What you are going to do instead is to use it to start building relationships with other site users who have similar interests to yours, on the basis that later on, you can use these relationships to introduce products and services to your recently acquired friends.
The fact is that the internet is changing, and social interaction between you and your customers is becoming more and more important.
Social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace should be used as ways of promoting your business.
The idea that these two social networking sites can be used as internet marketing tools has been around for a while but the networking tool that is beating the pants off those two sites in terms of simplicity, immediacy and effectiveness also happens to be the newest one - TWITTER.
How is it that TWITTER become such a powerful force when it comes to marketing?
First of all, people have changed how they search for information.
Up until recently, anyone who went looking for info on the internet did a Google search. Now it’s more than likely that they will log on to their favorite social network to pose the same questions to their online friends. The internet is becoming a much friendlier place to be and people all over the world are genuinely becoming friends over the world wide web.
This also means that if they want to do business, they want to do it with a FRIEND. This means YOU - even if you are trying to sell them something.
As most internet marketers are aware there is a trend towards trying to create intimacy with customers, and you should be doing this also by doing the following:
Provide helpful information on your site so your customers would come back to use your site as a valuable resource:-
Make sure that no matter what your site is up 24/7
Provide online telephone and chat support that was also available 24/7
Make the payment process absolutely seamless as possible
Regularly communicate with customers/prospects via newsletters, email, etc
Publish a blog to create a sense of intimacy with your customers.
You should also consider using Twitter. In fact, it is so popular that President Barack Obama was using it to keep people informed throughout his entire presidential campaign!
Twitter is a powerful medium and media tool!
Twitter is a site that millions of people are logging on to every day. It allows people to communicate almost instantly and in a public way.
Every time you add someone to your friends list, other people will see it. They will also see your communications.
It is a fun site that allows you to have very open conversations with other members. It is a very easy place to meet people, laugh with them, spread news, learn from others and become involved in a good way.
The main form of communication is a little box that has a kind of status update. It is similar to the status update you see on Facebook. As it is short, it can also fit every message or "tweet"
Tweets can also be read on a mobile phone. This means that any advertising message that you have can also be read on a phone. It is versatile because you can use it from your computer, mobile phone or almost any other kind of hand held device.
As it is so easy to get to know people on Twitter, it is also a great place to market your business, PROVIDED you go about it in the right way.
With Twitter Marketing Your objective is to build a list of followers as quickly as possible without offending people who have enlisted on the site. After all, they are there to make friends, not be sold stuff. To be successful using Twitter on the internet as a marketing tool you MUST do it correctly. If you want to know exactly how to use Twitter to market your business, but doing so in the right way then go to this link internet as a marketing tool to find out more - Marketing on internet.
If the report is not displayed at the top of the page after you click on the link don't worry it is still there just look a little further down the page and click on the book cover with the title on it that you want to get more information.

Maximize Your Prof'its With Simple Testing
no matter how well designed it is or how much you paid a copywriter to
create a stunning sales letter for you, you still have little or no idea how well
it will perform until it goes live.
Another fact of everyday life, is that no matter what it is that you do, it could
almost always be done better, and the only real way that you can establish
how is by testing.
But, I am certain that if you asked even the top level experts and gurus that
created the sites that generated millions of dollars in revenues for them,
they would tell you that there was something that they could perhaps have
done better.
No matter how well your site is designed, it therefore stands to reason that
it could always be improved.
For example, your web page may have a header banner across the top
which you think looks attractive and professional, but that is only your
opinion.
It is the opinion of your customers that matters so would changing it
improve the performance of your page?
Your page will certainly have a headline, and perhaps a sub-headline as well.
Is this an area where your page could be tweaked so that it performed more
profitably?
There will be graphics on some of the pages, and perhaps videos as well.
All of these may be helping the rate of sales that you make from your site,
but equally, they may not be.
The first essential job of any business or organization that is trying to sell
any kind of product or service online is to get visitors to their site.
In fact, even if your site is not selling, you should still be testing to make
sure that it its performance is optimized.
Having done so, however, it is then equally as important to maximize
conversions from that page. This will most commonly mean getting the
visitor to buy the product or service on offer, sign up for a mailing list or
perhaps to click on an advertising link.
From this, it logically follows that the better your page is designed, the more
conversions you should expect. Once you have the page built, and have
managed to drive a few hundred visitors to your site, then you need to start
thinking about what you were going to do next.
And what you're going to do next is to start testing, because testing is the
only way that you can genuinely establish how your site can be improved, so
that it generates more conversions for you.
In fact, most experts will tell you that you should never stop testing all of
the pages of your website, because everything that you do can be improved,
and even the smallest degree of improvement will mean that you enjoy
improved conversions ad therefore returns.
Internet as a marketing tool is a new service I have launched helping you to better
understand how to use the internet as a marketing tool. Every month I will release
an in-depth, top quality report covering an important aspect of how to market products
and services online. This months release I have another high quality report on this
"hot topic" and it's aimed at "newbies", not just experienced internet marketers.
Some excellent f'ree testing resources are described and I really liked the online
headline analyzer described in the report! To find out more here is the link:-

Marketing on internet
http://www.biztoolz.com.au/marketingoninternet.html
We have amazing opportunities at our door step, even during this difficult economic period. I really believe that at this point in time we haven’t even begun to imagine how the internet is going to change the way we do business right around the world. Every year the amount spent on goods and services on-line increases by millions and millions
of dollars and if you understand marketing and finding customers then you can definately sell your product or service on-line.
Anyone who has been on-line for awhile though knows the feeling of spending time and money time and time again on things
that just don't work. Many give up, and if you are still reading this postI know you are not one of those because you
have a desire to succeed and all you need is to know how.
Well you need two things to be successful. First you need to market your product/service (i.e. have a marketing plan) and second your website must attract traffic (ie prospects and customers).
Oh and there is a third thing you need. If you have been in the position of of spending time and money over and over
again on things that just don't work and believe me we all have, then you know the value of short cutting this by obtaining the knowledge and experience to find strategies that work.
Much of the feedback I get is that one of the biggest problems you are experiencing is getting traffic to your website. So the vital question is 'How do you get a good stream of traffic?' Well it is important that you need to get Google to like your website and therefore send search traffic to you.
It's no secret that the key to making money on the Internet is traffic. The more traffic you can drive, the more money
you will make. It's a simple equation.
When it comes to finding traffic though, there are many different ways to find the people you need. This is often done by paying for it. But for those that don't want to pay for traffic the good news is that there certainly are other ways to drive heaps of traffic for free. However like most things in life worthwhile, this will require you to take action and a also a little time and effort.
The most effective way is to drive free traffic to your site is to write and publish articles to different article hubs. Sounds simple doesn't it, most would not guess that just writing an article could produce such a profitable response in these high tech times. But it works.
As I mentioned above I have just launced a new service helping you to understand how to use the internet as a marketing tool. This months release is 'Article Traffic Power Tips' and you will see there are plenty of other topics on the website also.

Improve Your Email Deliverability
Here is an informative post I found from AWeber that I thought would be good to share with you. In case you are not aware AWeber is still the premier automated emailing service used by internet marketers. They help small businesses automate email follow up and newsletter delivery for website visitors.
This may be helpful if you are having spam complaints when you are not actually spamming.
Here is a summary of a problem an email marketer was having with spam complaints:-
• He was getting much more complaints than he’d like.
• In fact his emails were not even promotional – I quote “We are still in start up mode and not [even] selling anything. Our emails are short two-paragraphers linking to a high-content blog post.”
• His subscriber base is “entirely web-based sign ups” so these should be people who want his emails.
• He emails weekly (“so it’s hardly too much or too little that they forgot who we were”).
So I am sure you would agree that basically this marketer is trying to do the right thing, the same you would be. So why is this happening?
Well spam complaints can happen, in fact not all complaints occur because emails are ‘spam’ as we usually define it. Here some examples and what you might be able to do to mitigate the risk:-
1. It’s easy to click the ‘spam’ button - and not as easy to find the unsubscribe link.
Suggestion: make it easy to unsubscribe - consider putting an unsubscribe link near the top of your email.
2. Some recipients don’t trust unsubscribe links and/or have heard they shouldn’t click them unless they remember subscribing.
Suggestion: remind people when/where they signed up and why they’re getting your email (you can use personalised fields to include information like the date/time/URL that a subscriber signed up on).
3. The email was requested but not relevant.
Suggestion: make sure that your emails closely address your subscribers’ needs and wants. Track what subscribers are responding to in order to create more relevant campaigns as you go.
4. Similarly, the content or timing of the email was not what the subscriber expected (perhaps because expectations about the specific email content and frequency were not explicitly set when the subscriber opted in).
Suggestion: set expectations clearly when subscribers opt in. Tell them what they’re going to get, when they’re going to get it and who it’ll be coming from.
5. The subscriber didn’t like something about the email - or something else about the company sending it (”I had a bad experience on Company X’s website/in Company X’s store, so now I’m marking their email as spam.”).
Suggestion: request feedback from prospects and customers. Find out what they do and don’t like about your emails - and your business as a whole. Customer service, product selection, pricing, policies, everything… they can all affect subscriber perception of your company. Then take that feedback and improve.
There are certainly other possible reasons for spam complaints, and other courses of action that you might take, but by addressing these areas of your email marketing, you can reduce your exposure to spam complaints and maximize your mail delivery.

Until next time all the best
